  Governing Body Obesity

  not sure if this subject has been covered recently but i thought i'd make this observation anyway.... i remember when the word "gluttony" was a frequently mentioned sin in public talks, in the wt publications, in convention talks, etc.. in fact, in the 80's and 90's it wasn't unusual to hear the words "gluttony" and "disfellowship" mentioned in the same sentence.

  i haven't been to a meeting in over 5 years, so i'm not sure if they still harp on the subject of gluttony or other excesses.

  but i can't help but notice how much heavier the gb 2.0 has become compared to previous regimes.

  BY contrast, the old-guard GB members -- Knorr, Franz, Suiter, etc., were a "lean and hungry" lot.....check out their group photos online ... they had a lot more "gravitas" and much less "avoirdupois" than our current set of teletubbies.

  i recently heard angelo catanzaro, a rather prominent figure in the organization .. a long-time district overseer and a favorite of knorr's, died recently.

  there was some indication that he and his wife figured out ttatt in their latter years and turned "apostate"... .

  does anyone out there know what happened to them?

  i didn't think any of these things really deserved their own threads, so i've cobbled some random observations, incidents and reflections together.

  some are sad, like those poor jw school kids i know, and some are warm, like my friendship with my mother.. a year 10 girl who was enrolled in the a level science class was absent: i noticed because i used to be good friends with her jw mother, who recently ranted at me and unfriended me on fb.

  i've supervised a couple of aisha's* classes this year, and found her to be a quiet sort of kid who gets on with her work.

  So sorry for Aisha.... sadly an too often-repeated story. Not entirely on topic, but I can't help but wonder what makes Aussies, or any non American JWs for that matter, submit so meekly to the tune of this upstart American sect.

  then why aren't the gb personally going out and spearheading the preaching in places like china for instance and muslim countries?.

  intel on warwick project

  the committee assigned to build the new complex was called into a meeting with the governing body.

  they were told " you finish this project by january 1 2017. we want the keys to the complex and will be headquartered there by that date, do you understand?".

  when the brothers protested and said that it would take 6 years for the project to be complete and if they moved that fast there would be many mistakes, the gb responded, "we don't care, that is your deadline".

  " They told us "for the time being, comply since you have plenty of other territory to cover. " ... WTF? Judge Rutherford and Knorr must be spinning in their graves....

  What about the good ol' days when JWs were instructed to defy local ordinances en masse, to provoke mass arrests, publicity and set the stage for Hayden Covington to mount a legal challenge leading all the way to the US Supreme Court? Anyone remember the handy little booklet every JW kept in his bookbag during the 50s "Defending and Legally Establishing The Good News" ??

  another problem with the new FDS doctrine

  the issue july 15th 2013 changes the understanding of the fds dramatically, and it was broiught out here and on other places this creates numerous problems.. here is another one:.

  jesus is supposed to be the head of the congregation.

  when something goes wrong, he is often portrayed as the one having control over his congregation and also that in time he will act, clean the congo and direct elders (being the stars in his hand).

  Your Top 5 - Most Harmful JW Teachings

  we all know that the doctrine and dogma of the wts is completely false, so i'm not even going to include topics like "trinity" or "gehenna" or anything like that in my personal list.. but i'd like to see what other people list as their top five most harmful jw teachings.. #5. females in the congregation are inferior to males.. #4. you must override your personal conscience in favour of wts rules, even when you know it's wrong.. #3. shunning disfellowshippedtm and disassociatedtm individuals, without being allowed to form your own opinion or hear their side of the story, even when it is a family member or close friend, this teaching destroys families and results in far too many people taking their own lives from the agony of being rejected by the only people they have ever had relationships with.. #2. forsaking higher education, well-paid employment and planning for retirement.. #1. the no-blood rule has cost more lives since it was first introduced by rutherford than jonestown, 10 times over..

  Pretty much all of the above.... Overridng everything is their contempt/uncompassion for non JWs and their complete lack of social conscience and natural charitable impulses, which have been brainwashed out of them .
